Director of Public Affairs
Cynthia manages the communications aspects of crisis preparedness and response for UF. She works closely with fellow communicators across the university and assists reporters with their inquiries.
In her previous position, she served as a sworn public information officer at one of South Carolina’s largest law enforcement agencies, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Prior to that role, Cynthia was a reporter for nearly 10 years, working at The Palm Beach Post and The News-Press, in addition to two newspapers in South Carolina where she primarily covered state government and politics.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Cynthia moved to Florida to pursue a degree in journalism at the University of South Florida. Though she is a transplant, she considers the Sunshine State — and all of its quirky glory — home.
During her off time, she loves to bake, play video games and train martial arts. Of course, those hobbies come second to the preschooler who rules her world.
